Material Recovery Facility (MRF)

Dry fraction of municipal recyclables are delivered to be separated, processed and temporarily stored for transport to SA.

Our Material Recovery Facility (MRF) is a Waste Management System where the dry fraction of municipal solid wastes (recyclables) is delivered to be separated, processed and temporarily stored for transport to SA.

In 2010 Rent-A-Drum erected and commissioned a state-of-the-art Material Recovery Facility (MRF), the first and only one of its kind in Namibia, as well as a six-meter weigh-bridge to record volumes of recyclables received, processed and dispatched from the MRF.

This MRF enables Rent-A-Drum to sort and bale mixed recyclables in huge volumes and has created more than 140 additional employment opportunities for mainly unskilled Namibians, many of them women.

Windhoek’s landfill and dumping sites are rapidly reaching MAXIMUM capacity, and each household’s participation in the recycling process will help not only the City of Windhoek, but also our planet as a whole!

It is our responsibility as Namibians to ensure a better tomorrow for our future generations.
